Parent/Volunteer Training
All adult parents and volunteers who attend camping functions, serve as merit badge counselors, or otherwise assist the Troop during activities must complete Youth Protection training BEFORE being permitted to do so. Youth Protection is a short (40-45 minute) training that can be done online at: http://my.scouting.org
Committee Member Training
To wear the Trained patch as part of your adult leader uniform, a Committee Member must complete the Troop Committee Challenge Training (about 40-60 minutes) in addition to Youth Protection. This is available in a classroom setting by the GNFC.
Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Training
In addition to Youth Protection, Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are also required to take Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training (IOLST), both of which are occasionally offered by the GNFC. Neither of these two classes are currently available in an online format.
